In the summer of 2015 in the excavation of Cetamura (Gaiole in Chianti) was found a small globular vase with a flat bottom: inside were discovered 194 silver coins, denarii and quinarii, dated between 169 and 27 BC and produced in different mints of the Mediterranean.
Restored in the laboratories of Santa Maria della Scala by Nòra Marosi (Studio Arts College International), the coins are exhibited and recontextualized within the site of Cetamura and the wider Chianti area in the Republican age.
The exhibition is promoted by the Florida State University, by the Soprintendenza Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the provinces of Siena, Grosseto and Arezzo and by the Municipality of Siena, in collaboration with Studio Arts College International and Friends of Florence..
